Fin-Pipe Assembly 

The copper pipes were stood up on end and the fins were pressed on over the pipes and a 1/4 inch spacer was put inbtween each fin on the heat exchanger assembly rod. 

As more fins were added, the pipes were more difficult to move and the next fin became troublesome to press on, bearing in mind the fins and copper were designed to be a snug fit so the gap between the aluminum and copper could be minimized. 

The process of pressing the fins on by lightly tapping with a small hammer no longer worked and a larger hammer was needed. To reduce bending and scarring of the aluminum from a larger hammer, a part was made out of wood to use as a surface to hit the aluminum fins onto the copper. This piece can be seen below.
